Note to self - ALWAYS take a board!!!

So I headed off to sunny Madeira thinking after a scour of the charts that there'd be no surf, it was flat for 5 days then this swell turned up. First day was in the 15ft+ range and on the second smaller day (3rd pic down) it was still 10-12ft, way over double overhead, and what could I do but watch from the shore, a gutting/humbling moment. And therein lies the lesson for today - always, always take a board!!!!
